  16. If anybody out there is having trouble with WSARCHIE please direct your
  17. queries to david@maxwell.demon.co.uk (i.e. me). I have heard from Clifford
  18. Neumann that people have been sending winsock related problems to him. His 
  19. email address was only put in the distribution because he wrote the archie
  20. client that I based wsarchie on. He is very unlikely to be able to help with
  21. any problems, unless they are about prospero.

  23. I know about the following problems:

  25. 1. When using Netmanage Chameleon V4 and V4.004 some people are getting errors,
  26. resolving the internet address.
  27.  
  28.    Netmanage have told me there is a problem when more than one nameserver is
  29.    specified. They say this will be fixed in their next release. In the mean
  30.    time you could try specifing only one nameserver.
  31.  
  32. 2. Timeouts when using FTP's PC/TCP, with queries returning large results.
  33.  
  34.    I'm not sure what is happening here but I am investigating and hope that
  35.    I'll be able to find something out in a few weeks. (I'm very busy just now)

  37. If you are having problems with wsarchie please do contact me, and include the
  38. following details:

  40. 1. What version of Windows (3.1, WFWG 3.11, NT etc)
  41. 2. The winsock stack you are using (ie Trumpet, Chameleon) and the version.
  42.    Look in wsarchie's about box and you should see some information at the
  43.    bottom of the dialog (If your using Chameleon it wont all be visible
  44.    as I didn't leave enough space at the bottom of the screen).
  45. 3. What other software is running on your machine (a copy of your autoexec.bat
  46.    config.sys, system.ini and win.ini files would help).

  71. Have been looking into setting up a telnetable BBS, and have pretty much 
  72. resigned myself to using Linux... even though I usually use Windows and 
  73. Chameleon to access the net myself.

  75. Then it occurred to me, I wonder if there's a BBS program that speaks Winsock?

  77. Anyone with pointers to same? Commercial, shareware, or freeware acceptable.
